Training With The Best

Training With The Best

To think the combine was 11 years ago is wild to me. I remember when I left Cal after my junior year I wasn’t sure how or where I was going to go in the draft. I left early because I truly felt I had a great chance to go in the first round and I was ready to chase my dream of playing in the NFL.

When I was prepping for the combine I think I had the best trainer that year, I was able to workout with Jerry Rice. I knew Jerry would be able to get me right on and off the field. I mean if you were playing basketball the best player to get you right would be the best player, like MJ. The best at my position was Jerry so it was an easy decision to go out and train with him.

When I was training with him I learned so much, he taught me how to change up my routes and be able to catch DBs sleeping. Away from on the field he definitely helped me prepare for all of the questions and interviews that will happen as well. I wanted to make sure these teams knew exactly who I was on and off the field.

I was very blessed to have a great mentor prepare me for the combine, I couldn’t imagine how I would have prepared without it. The combine was a lot of fun, I definitely think I proved leaving Cal early was the right decision and I was ready for the league.
