News 10.31.18 Bucs look to turn stellar offense into wins
The Bucs are showing they have the most talented offensive receivers in the NFL and they have the rankings to prove it.
- No. 1 offense
- No. 1 passing game
- Highest quarterback rating in Ryan Fitzpatrick
While most teams fear playing their No. 2 QB, the bucs feel like theyre ready.
"I feel fortunate we have three quarterbacks that we like, that understand the system and play at a high level," said Bucs guard Ali Marpet. "I think three is a rarity and we have that with Ryan Griffin, too."
No matter which quarterback is in there for the Bucs, their offense continues to be a machine.
They're on a record pace in grinding up yards. But there's a reason the yards aren't translating to wins: Turnovers.
The Bucs have thrown 15 interceptions. That's the most in the NFL this season.
"It's kind of been a struggle this year just protecting the football," said Bucs tightened Cam Brate. "Obviously the coaches are going to put in whoever they think is going to do the best job protecting the football. We can score a lot of points, it's just holding onto the football that's our biggest issue right now. We just have to kind of figure out those issues."
Ryan Fitzpatrick also brings a dynamic to the huddle that spreads confidence.
The players believe in Fitzmagic.
"He's getting the job done," said Bucs defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. "That's the game. Get the jobdone. Make everybody happy. Don't have to worry about things."
The Bucs have finished with a top 10 offense three times in franchise history, prior to Dirk Koetter coming to Tampa Bay.
By the end of this season, all four of Koetter's years with the Bucs will rank among the top 5 in Buccaneer history.
