It's hard to believe that we have hit the halfway point of the regular season. Our season can stretch from training camp in July to possibly February with Super Bowl 51. That is an incredibly long time for our bodies to take the physical abuse that this game brings. That’s one of the reasons why so many of us look forward to the bye week. It is a great time to get away, but it is a crucial week of recovery for my body to recover.
As we move into the second half of the regular season the first team in our sights is the New York Giants. They are a veteran team who are in an early fight for playoff position in their division. Their offense gets deserved publicity with guys like Eli and Odell Beckham Jr. Yet their defense is a solid unit that has pushed them to some key wins this year.
While their entire defense plays very well as an unit, they do have a few guys who popped out as we watched film. Olivier Vernon is a pass rusher who has to be accounted for on every play. In a league of good athletes, his physical talent stands out. Their young safety, Landon Collins, may be only in his second year but he has made play after play for New York. He can play down in the box in the run game or play centerfield and disrupt our passing game. This kid definitely plays like a game changing veteran.
Looking forward to being in the bright lights of New York for Monday Night Football. Wish us luck as we chase a win in New York!
