We knew heading into Sunday’s game against the Eagles that we’d have our work cut out for us. They’re the defending Super Bowl champions for a reason. But we knew we could handle them and we definitely expected to win.
It feels good. To come in and win in this environment, nobody believed we could do that. But we believed that we could, so we just did what we did.
I have to give our defense a ton of credit for the effort they gave out there. To play as well as they did against an offense like the Eagles—man, it was incredible to watch. I think they allowed only three points in the first half and just a handful of first downs.
It was definitely a great game by those guys.
On offense, Kirk, Adam, Stefon—everybody played great. I thought I played OK. Maybe there were some runs I’d like to get back, but I think I did my part in helping this team win.
The important thing, of course, is that we won. But we also got a lot closer to playing the kind of game that we want to play. I think the running game played tough and was productive when the team really needed it.
We’ll try to learn from the things we did well and what we didn’t do well so we can run even better next week against the Cardinals.
