We got a big division game this week as we take on the Cardinals. I think both teams are trying to get some momentum going and a win this week would be a step in that direction. Both teams are going to start a QB who wasn’t the starter to begin the season, so they’ll be new looks this week as well.
We have to do a good job of protecting CJ this week. Arizona has an excellent pass rush that can get pressure on almost every down, so we have to do what we can to help him. For our receiver group, we have to do a great job of getting open quickly and running efficient routes. We also have to stay balanced by running the ball so that their pass rush can’t just tee off on CJ every play.
They have playmakers on defense that we have to be aware of. Chandler Jones is one of the best pass rushers in the game today and I don’t think that he gets the credit he deserves. Patrick Peterson is probably the best corner of this generation. He does not have any weakness in his game. He can play zone or man and make plays. He can play off or press and disrupt routes. He is the best corner that I face from year to year.
Arizona will have a little more juice as they take the field with Josh Rosen at QB. He’s an impressive, young player and he will certainly help them take a step forward. We have to help our defense by putting points on the board and putting the pressure on the Cards.
