3 Noteworthy Takeaways from the Denver Nuggets Season Opening Win

The Denver Nuggets won their preseason opener against the New Orleans Pelicans who were led by 50 points from Anthony Davis.

The Denver Nuggets got off to a slow start, but they picked up steam behind center Jusuf Nurkic and his dominant performance. Several key Nuggets showed up in their 107-102 victory in New Orleans which partially ruined the nights best performer in Anthony Davis.

The Nuggets went with their “Jurkic” lineup which is when they pair their twin tower, Jusuf Nurkic and Nikola Jokic in the front court together. This lineup saw its dividends tonight as the twin towers were consistently rebounding over the opposing front court of Anthony Davis and Omer Asik.

Along with the Jurkic, Will Barton was also a standout performer of the night. His shiftiness allowed for the pick-and-roll to work its wonders. Barton is truly becoming a needed member of this Nuggets team, and his excelling in the pick-and-roll will certainly help this, at times, hurting offense.
