It always feels so rewarding to give back to the community, my mom instilled that in me at a young age that if I have the money and the opportunity then it is only right to give back. And there is nothing more important than giving back to the community you are so close to. As many of you know, my mother and I started my foundation, Hayward’s Hands, and we have done countless events in my hometown of Perry, Georgia and now I’m reaching out to the great Los Angeles Community.
A couple weeks ago I teamed up with After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA), to donate to $1,000 to 10 families in need in the underserved communities of Los Angeles. I know how hard it is for these kids to control their surroundings and situations, and I understand how difficult it is for parents who work so hard to try to be able to provide for their kids. With the holidays being a time of receiving and giving, I just want to be able to give as much as I can.
I always felt that if I’m in a good place financially, then why not help others? With these kids looking forward to Christmas, I just felt it was a great time to give back and put a smile on the faces of these families.
I have been blessed with being nominated with the Walter Payton Man of the Year award by the Chargers. I just love to give back and want to be able to use my platform to help out as many people as I can. #BoltUp!
