Like every other basketball fan, I’m enjoying the Conference Finals and look forward to seeing who is going to battle it out in the Finals. But I have to admit—I would enjoy watching so much more if my team was still playing.
As many of you know already, I am a huge fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. I grew up in the LA area, and have been watching these guys my whole life; since the Elden Campbell, Vlade Divac, Magic Johnson days.
They haven’t been winning like they used to back in the day. But I like the team we have now. We have some nice, young pieces. I’m a huge Kyle Kuzma fan.
Lonzo Ball can play, too. If they had billed Lonzo as like a big-time scorer coming out, and he didn’t score, then you know, I’d be concerned about him. There’s not really much to be concerned about. I mean, he’s a rookie.
It’s a young team that is only going to get better. I’m also looking forward to seeing what they do this summer.
There has been a lot of talk about who they may go after or what they could do. I don’t know what they have in mind. I guess whoever the front office thinks is the best fit. I don’t really mind. I think if it’s best for our team then that’s what they have to do moving forward that’s for sure.
As for the LeBron vs. Kobe debate—LeBron is great and all but I am Lakers fan, so I have to say my man Kobe has the better legacy. You can’t touch the ‘Mamba Mentality!’
I channeled my own inner Kobe, my inner Mamba when I tore my Achilles last season. I thought, “Heck, he tore his Achilles, shot two free throws, and walked off. So, when I tore mine, I said, ‘Kobe walked it off. Get off of me; I’m about to walk this off.
Playoffs may not be in the cards for my Lakers just yet. But they are getting there; they’re close. No matter how long it takes, I am not going to stop believing in them. That’s my team.
Once a Lakers fan, always a Lakers fan.
