My 2018 Rockets Preview

The only thing better than winning a championship trophy is winning it twice. As tough as the MAC is, repeating is not going to be easy. But with the talent on this year’s roster, we got a real shot. This is the year my Rockets really take off.

It’s not going to be easy to replace Logan Woodside at quarterback, but Coach Candle has a couple of good candidates in Mitchell Guadagni and Eli Peters. They lack experience but will have some great skill position players to work with.

The talent in the wide receiver room is ridiculous. Diontae Johnson stepped up last year after Cody Thompson went down and had a monster season. Thompson is back, healthy and ready to go. Jon’Vea Johnson and Danzel McKinley-Lewis are two guys opposing DBs better not sleep on.

Terry Swanson replaced me last year and did a great job. This year, they are going to have two guys looking to take over in the back field, Shakif Seymour and Art Thompkins. Both guys ran well last year but how well they run this year will depend on how well the offensive line comes together. They have some big bodies coming back, but they need to replace a couple too.

On the defensive side of the ball, the strength is going to be in the secondary with cornerback Ka'dar Hollman and safeties Josh Teachey and Kahlil Robinson coming back. Expectations are high for cornerback Justin Clark, too.

Losing Olasukanmi Adeniyi off the defensive line is big, but Nate Childress, Tuzar Skipper, Reggie Howard, and Zach Quinn will be up to the challenge of replacing him. It will be tough to replace linebacker Jack Linch, too. But we have plenty of guys hoping to get the chance to try..

The talent is there. If Coach Candle can get these guys all on the same page and clicking, I have no doubt this team can do great things this season.
