Every game is important, but there is a little more to this week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Not only is it a game against a division opponent, but it is also the ‘My Cause, My Cleats’ game week around the NFL.
‘My Cause, My Cleats’ is something the NFL started doing a few years back to give players an opportunity to use the NFL platform to help a cause that we are passionate about. As great as it is to make a living playing football, it is even better to be able to help others while doing so.
By letting us wear cleats designed to promote our causes, the NFL makes that possible.
Giving back is something I always want to do. I was just raised that way. I want to use this platform to reach everybody that I can.
The cause I will be supporting is one very near and dear to my heart, the St. Pete Nitro Track Team in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is something my brother and I started back when we were kids. We have always known that we want to help and inspire people and felt like this was a way we could even though we were just 14-15 years old.
Of course, since we’ve been out in Seattle, someone else has had to run the club and coach all the kids. We are appreciative of everyone donating their time and are happy to help give back in any way.
One of these days, I would like to build an athletic facility, so kids can have a place they can train without having to worry about the cost. The community doesn’t have anything like that now, and money can be an issue sometimes with people.

I am proud to represent the St. Pete Nitro Track Club and can’t wait to show off my cleats! Go Hawks!
