I was at the Suns vs Thunder game last year when Devin Booker was talking about not letting Russell Westbrook get that triple double against them and I love that, I became a big fan of his when I saw that. He showed that pride of playing in front of your home crowd and protecting your house.
A great home field environment leads to good things happening, like momentum. You never know what moment is going to get a team going and this team is full of those moments. Maybe it is the grand slam or pitching out of a bases loaded jam. The season is long so you have to create momentum whenever you can.
Last year showed me that I just want to be a part of a winning environment. Whatever role I can play to help us win, is fine with me. Just contributing to a winning effort is something more fun than anything I’ve ever been a part of. My favorite part about the bullpen compared to starting is getting to contribute every night. Sometimes I pitch 3 games in a row or pitch 4 out of 5 days and you have to learn to adapt and take care of your body. Getting to pitch more than every 5th day is something I really enjoy and doing it in front of the Diamondback fans is a dream come true.
