Thank You, Baltimore

Thank You, Baltimore

This will be one of my toughest goodbyes. I've been fortunate enough to call Baltimore home for the last 11 years. I’m leaving with incredible memories, lifelong friendships, a Super Bowl ring, and a Super Bowl MVP. It will be a surreal experience not putting on a purple and black Ravens uniform but am grateful for the time I put in and the relationships I made -  I wish nothing but the best for the Ravens organization.

I would like to first thank Ozzie Newsome, Eric DeCosta, Steve Bisciotti, and Coach Harbaugh for taking the chance on a Fightin’ Blue Hen out of the University of Delaware. There was a time in my collegiate career where I didn’t know if the NFL was in my future, but with some help from Coach Keeler, he motivated me to not give up on my dream. I’m proud to have spent the past 11 years with the Ravens giving everything we have to the great city of Baltimore, and I could have not been more appreciative for this opportunity.

I would also like to thank the great fans of Baltimore. From my rookie season in 2008 to this past season, your loyalty and devotion to this team never wilted. In the beginning, we endured some tough battles and fell short of our ultimate goal. The 2012 season was something special. To be able to bring a championship to the great city of Baltimore is an accomplishment I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Although I will be moving on to Denver, the city of Baltimore will always have a piece of my heart. When I was drafted at the age of 23, I hoped for a long career in the NFL but did not have a clue of what else my life would entail. To leave here a husband and now a father of five, I’m blessed to have had my children grow up in this wonderful city.

To my teammates, I will forever cherish the memories we have made. To be able to have played alongside all of you and battle every Sunday was an absolute honor. I’m thankful I was not the one to line up against the greats like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and will always remember celebrating the remarkable run we had in the 2012 season. I wish only the best for every single one of you and know that our friendship will be a bond no one can take away from us.

I can’t imagine spending my career in any other place but Baltimore, but I know the organization is in great hands. I would not be the man I am today, on and off the field, without the guidance and leadership of this organization.

Thank you, Baltimore, for giving me an amazing 11 years and helping me become the person I am today!
