And so it begins, the new chapter of my life and my career. March was an extremely busy and important time for me, and is a month that I will never forget.
It all started when I took a trip up to meet with the San Francisco 49ers organization. With a lot of research and a lot of support from the Players Union, my new contract was negotiated and finalized - a huge weight off of my shoulders. It was a great experience, and I still continue to believe that it is important for players to take accountability in working to manage their careers on and off the field. I’m happy to be staying on the West Coast and head back to California, where it all began. I'm still going to be continuing some of my charitable work in the Seattle community, and really appreciate all of the love the 12s have given me and continue to give me. It may be beginning a new chapter, but I am not, and never will, completely close the old one.
After settling the next step in my career, it was time to settle something else. My now wife, Ashley, and I had been engaged for 2 years and we decided it was time to tie the knot this year. We packed up the kids, headed to one our of favorite places - Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana - invited 130 of our closest friends and family, and exchanged our vows on March 28th. It was the time of our lives and one that we will cherish forever.
And with what was already an action-packed month, I hit the big 3-0 on March 30th...my 'Golden Birthday'. There was no way I would have rather spent it that being with my wife, and around the people closest to me, especially the Legion of Boom fellas.
I feel extremely blessed for everything that has happened over the last month and cannot wait for what’s still to come in this next chapter. Looking forward to OTAs next week!
