Whenever you are able to walk away from a close game with the win, you can’t help but feel a sigh of relief. We got off to a great start and a nice lead heading into the fourth quarter. But Matthew Stafford—he was not going to go down without a fight.
I have a ton of respect for him. He came out there and battled the whole game. He executed down the stretch; made some unbelievable throws; he made some really risky throws. I just have a ton of respect for how he plays the game.
He had a tough week last week and he bounced back incredibly well. He was slinging it; he’s a gunslinger. But we knew that about him and we were ready for him.
But what can I say about this game…. I think the game was a good lesson for us. Thank goodness we got the win out of it. There’s a lot of good tape, so there will be a lot we can learn from this.
I think watching the film is going to be a good, humbling experience for our team. There's always room for improvement. We've got to learn and keep improving our game.
But, a win is a win is a win. Well take it, enjoy for 24 hours, and then put it behind us and get ready for next week's game versus the Chiefs.
